German officials stepped up their criticism of the social networking site Facebook, noting that the site has not taken serious action to stop the bad publications, which may expose Facebook to legal prosecution.
Said Heiko Mass, the German Minister of Justice, in a recent interview, he said that his ministry was investigating the possibility of making social networking sites legally responsible for the illegal publications.
Mr. Maas has proposed fining Facebook amount of 522 thousand Dollar for every false news published on the site. He explained: "Of course we have to think to impose fines in the event of other precautionary methods failed, and it will be a powerful incentive to intensify their efforts."
That Germany has seen a sharp increase in the publications "acerbic" on social networking sites in recent years, where the discussion was going on in and around the hot flow of more than one million immigrants into the country since the beginnin g of 2015.
It is noteworthy that Germany has strict laws against letters of racism or incitement to violence, and that as a reaction to Germany's Nazi legacy. But the authorities have suffered from the presence of a huge number of these ads unknown source in many cases, which are published on foreign websites. Facebook says it takes the issue seriously, and that has hundreds of persons responsible for keeping track of publications in the Berlin office. But the newspaper "provided the Deutsche Zeitung" reported that employees complain constantly of painstaking work.
Obermann said Thomas, a senior deputy in the Social Democratic Party: "We have a high-profile social networking sites like Facebook intensify work in order to delete illegal posts within 24 hours, or pay fines of up to $ 522 thousand." This proposal comes at a time when German officials warn of the possibility of the impact of hate speech and the dissemination of news phantom on social networking sites, on the forthcoming general elections in the country.
